About

Joy is the youngest space enthusiast in India to be STK level 2 certified primarily because no one below 18 is allowed to give level 1 and as for level 2, no one except DRDO, ISRO professionals are allowed. Joy in his resilient character was allowed to give the exam after much persuasion and his deep interest in satellite technology. 

 

Joy is the winner of Space Innovation Challenge organized by VNIT Nagpur, for the challenge statement on how to mitigate space debris. 

 

At the age of 11 Joy, won the consolation prize at Techfest, IIT Powai(World’s largest technical festival at the most prestigious institute in India) among engineering students. 

 

At the age of 11, Joy won the first prize among engineers at Indian Institute of Technology Benaras(Asia’s oldest technological fair) for his innovative electric power system for rural India. 

 

When Joy was 12 years old, he did a conference style presentation at Techfest in front of engineering students and a panel of judges from IIT Madras, Tata Power and IIT Bombay, after being fiercely questioned about the project he was awarded the fourth position among engineering students and a special letter of recognition from Tata Power.

 

When I was 11, I was invited by TEDx Dabri to give my first TEDx talk making me one of the youngest ever in India to deliver a TEDx talk which is now on the official website of TED and on YouTube.

 

Joy has stood 2nd and 3rd in the NASA Scientist for a Day essay contest consecutively.

 

Joy is deeply interested in space technology and sustainable development and therefore, has written a book on space for sustainable development, an introduction to how space technology can be used to contribute towards sustainable development. The book was released by the Union Transport Minister of India in August 2022, who appreciated Joy’s thoughts and congratulated him for his achievements. 

 

Joy owes his eloquent speaking and communication skills, to a 4-year diploma course he has completed from Helen O’ Grady Academy in speech and social skills. 

 

Joy is a Conrad Innovator and was sixth all over the globe in aerospace and aviation category in the 2019-20 Conrad Challenge sponsored by NASA. 

 

Joy’s passion for space motivated him to participate in the Asteroid Search Campaign where he discovered two unique asteroids which are now provisional results and have been confirmed by NASA JPL and the Micro Planet Centre at Harvard University. 

 

Joy was selected into the Junior Academy of the New York Academy of Sciences, where only 1000 students all over the globe are chosen each year. 

 

Joy was selected as a Yale Young Global Scholar on scholarship. 

 

Joy was awarded many gold medals for his excellence in mathematics and science by the Science Olympiad Foundation. 

 

Joy has started Project Gyan an organisation that has been providing quality practical STEM education and mentorship to rural and tribal students from India. He won the prestigious Peace First grant to start this initiative. He was also awarded 40000 rupees by Vicco Laboratory for this initiative. 

 

Joy was chosen among top 150 changemakers of India for his work in sustainable development through space technology and practical STEM education through Project Gyan by the Federation Egalitarian Ethical Liberal Leaders. 

 

Joy was invited by IIT Madras as an exhibition partner along with the likes of ISRO and DRDO.

 

Joy was awarded the first rank in city for the National Science Talent Search Examination. 

 

Joy was awarded the 7th international rank for the Indian Schools Talent Search Examination. 

 

Joy won the second prize at Bhavan’s BP Vidya Mandir Munshi Memorial Science Exhibition for a project that he has applied a patent for. 

 

Accepted into The Knowledge Society (TKS) (An international STEM society for teenagers) on a 5000 dollar aid

 

Joy was accepted into the IISER Bhopal Summer outreach program where he won the prize for a quiz competition. 

 

He won the first prize at the quiz organised at UNESCO Centre for Peace Summer program. 

 

Joy won the first prize at Saevus Wildlife eco achiever quiz

 

Joy interned at the Crucible Of Research & Innovation which had been inaugurated by one of the greatest scientists Prof CNR Rao and received a special letter of appreciation from the Vice Chancellor of PES University. 

 

Joy won the first prize at science working model competition at Essence International School

 

Invented an app that reduces climate effects by promoting ride sharing through exchange of non-monetary points(For proof patent no.: 201921048641)

Invented an innovative system to clean garbage off of railway tracks(For proof patent no.: 201924031201)

Invented an application that allows real time prediction of volcanic eruption through crowdsourcing of mobile phone infrasonic data(For proof patent no.: 202221003798)

Invented a useful Vertical Take off & landing vehicle for Indian desert borders(patent no.: 201924031200)

 

Joy was awarded with the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award for Young people Bronze level (Currently pursuing silver level)

 

Joy was appointed the Vice President of his school’s Rotary Interact Club.

 

Joy served as the prefect for special projects in his school’s student council.

 

Joy was invited to speak at TEDx YCCE at 16 where he spoke on the Joy of Living and Giving which is on the official website of TED and its youtube channel.

 

Joy was covered by the Global Indian Magazine which generally covers the likes of Mukesh Amabani and Indians who are working on a global scale.

 

Joy is a two times merit holder in National Mathematics Talent Search Contest 

 

Joy was selected as a RISE Global Finalist for exceptional brilliance among 500 people out of tens of thousands globe over. 

 

Joy is also an Atlas India Finalist and has been awarded a 1000 dollar cash reward
