About
Hi,
My name is Joy a 17 year old, RISE Global Winner, space technologist, social entrepreneur, change maker, author, Diana awardee, 2x TEDx speaker and well of course a high school student. I have won 2 consolations prizes at IIT Bombay, a first prize at IIT BHU and a first prize at VNIT Nagpur for his projects. I have also invited by IIT Madras as an exhibition partner.
Mission & Vision
I want to revolutionise the world through space technology, global education and global studies. But as a self-proclaimed victim of the Da Vinci syndrome, I have interests in every single field and am eager to contribute to the society any way I can. My North Star vision would be make the world better through space technology, engineering and policy.
A Public Speaker
I am an enthusiastic Gen-Z changemaker interested in changing the world not only through direct action but also symbolically and by motivating the youth. He is a public speaker having given two TED talks. All his talks are here 👉
Diana Awardee
I am the recipient of the prestigious Diana Award. The Diana Award is the highest honour a young person can receive for social and humanitarian work. It was instituted in memory of Princess Diana on her unwavering belief that young people can change the world. Joy was congratulated among other recipients during the ceremony by Prince William & Prince Harry.
RISE Global Winner
I am a recipient of the RISE scholarship, one of the most selective lifelong fellowships, wherein almost 4,00,000 people register and only 100 winners are chosen, who are given a full need-based scholarship, a fully paid summit at the University of Oxford in August 2024. RISE is a billion-dollar commitment from Schmidt Futures of Eric Schmidt(former CEO of Google) and Rhodes Trust, based out of the University of Oxford.
An Author
I have authored a book on Space technology for sustainable development, an insight into how space technology in form of satellite data and communication can empower the world and contribute to sustainable development. It was released in August at the hands of Union Minister of India for Transportation Shri Nitin Gadkari.
Founder of Project Gyan
This pandemic gave me time to ponder and reflect on a lot of things. I had an epiphany as to the state of practical science education here in India and therefore I started Project Gyan an organisation to promote quality experimental and experiential STEM education to disadvantaged classes from rural and tribal parts of the country.
